The Academic Life

Amy Matthews is Associate Professor in Creative Writing at Flinders University and was given the title of John Howard Clark Scholar at the University of Adelaide. She was Deputy Director of Assemblage Centre for Creative Arts from 2021-2023 and is still an active committee member. Amy has a PhD and First Class Honours in Creative Writing and undergraduate degrees in Arts (English and History) and Communications (Film and Electronic Media). She supervises PhD candidates in both Creative Writing and Literary Studies. Amy’s research interests cover historical fiction, Holocaust representation, popular fiction, Popular Romance Studies, and fictions of climate change.

Amy is also an associate member of the JM Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice, and a member of the Australasian Association of Writing Programs, Writers SA, the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance and Romance Writers of Australia.
